Skiing
and Riding
Polar Peak is a hill with a 114' vertical drop and a southern
exposure. There are plenty of natural terrain features and character.
The lower portion of the hill below mid station provides good
beginner and lower intermediate terrain. Above midstation are
the steeps, most slopes have a 40 degree pitch. Off of the summit
the Polar Run slope is our beginner run that meanders 1/4 mile
to the base area.
Despite
the advent of high speed quads, gondolas and magic carpets the
ropetow remains the most efficient ski lift ever made. We continue
to use this technology to get us up the hill year after year.
Our lift, dubbed the "Summit Express", faithfully delivers
us to adventure in the sun year after year.
Between
runs and at the end of the day we retreat to Carinthia Lodge,
our lodge/warming hut located at the base area. It is always nice
to retreat to a cup of specialty hot chocolate and BBQ chicken,
hamburgers, and hot dogs off the grill after burning tons of calories
skiing the bowl.
